I adore the LRB and am massively grateful to Karl Miller for his role in starting it and helping make it the success it is.

    Phil Edwards says:
When I started reading the LRB - under Karl Miller's editorship - I was a systems analyst, ten years out of university and hankering to get back there somehow. The LRB seemed like the Senior Common Room of my dreams; I felt privileged to be allowed to read it and pleasantly surprised that I could understand it.

Now I'm a lecturer, with a doctorate and a book to my name. And the LRB still seems like the Senior Common Room of my dreams.
