  1. A.J.P. Crown says:

Alan Macfarlane did a long interview with Frank Kermode last year. It’s available here.

  2. Phil says:

Nobody can hope for much more than 90 years, but even so I’m very sad to hear this. We’ve lost a powerful mind, a consistently independent thinker and a great writer.

  3. pickmbts says:

I am sorry to hear that. Frank Kermode is a great man

  4. Louise_M says:

Heard the news on the radio as we were driving back from Ness on Lewis. Was immediately shocked and sorry. Of course it had to come sometime, but his essays in recent years for the LRB have been so excellent and lucid that one hoped he might go on to the full century undimmed – and that we would have the pleasure of a few more. I remember him at the Edinburgh Book Festival talking about Otello and Othello – the place was packed, the audience enthralled. A great critic and a generous spirit.
